Captain Satch
and Sons......
Youth Fishing Camp"2004 ! "
This seasons spring fishing camp
is scheduled for Memorial day weekend. To make it easier for those
coming from away, camp weekend will begin on Saturday afternoon, May
29th at 4pm and commencement will be on Monday May 31st at 1 pm.
Enjoy a fun filled weekend fishing and
learning on the Maine coast with Captain Satch and his crew. You'll
explore the ins and outs of coastal salt water fishing and become
familiar with basic boat handling techniques. Captain Satch and his
sons, Whitney, and Dennis are all" U.S. coast guard" licensed Captains,
as well as experienced "State of Maine" tidewater fishing guides. Satch
has decided to incorporate his experience as a former secondary
school educator and coach to put
together a weekend program designed
specifically for youths from age 7 through 17.
This family
oriented program combines a few hours of fun outdoor classroom
instruction
" primary knots", casting, and understanding basic tidewater habitat. With
three guided fishing trips that
are all inclusive in the package.
Spend a half day on the classic Gath
III, a half day on our newest vessel the India Marie and
a half day fishing from shore exploring secret spots in the Rachel Carson Federal
wildlife Reserve and the Saco Bay river estuary. Sundays's boat trip includes some extra time
pulling lobster traps for Sunday night's lobster
bake. This cook-out and an environmental
scavanger/treasure hunt will close out Sunday evening
activities.
By
land and by sea. Feel like your part of the crew. Get to
the boat early Monday morning and go over the maintenance and
electronic
checklists with the crew. Help
the captain choose the days fishing spots based on tide, weather and
fishing conditions..
By Monday morning's final trip our kids will
demonstrate their skills, tying their own lines, choosing proper baits
and lures, casting to structure and netting their own catch..
Your captain and mate will do their best to let
you fully participate and answer any of your questions about boat
handling and tidewater fishing awareness. We'll strive to give your
children a
true appreciation of our coastal environment and a respect of the sea
that they will carry with them for a lifetime....
Be prepared for a full weekend of
scheduled fishing fun and adventure..
